The Police Athletic League (PAL) is the largest independent youth organization in New York City that provides educational and recreational activities for children and young adults. PAL Inc. and The New York City Police Department work in partnership to provide communities with summer and after-school recreational and educational activities.
We are looking for Health and Safety Monitor to work as a site liaison for following preventative practices: proper hygiene, social distancing, and other practices such as sanitizing upon entering the facility and throughout the day.
This position is available at the Wynn Center - Brooklyn.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for monitoring health and safety policies according to program safety plan to ensure a safe and healthy environment for staff and participants.
- Maintain documentation of all people who enter the building at all times
- Regularly inspects the facility to identify health and safety risks, and to provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance.
- Ensures that required documentation is maintained and readily accessible when needed.
- Coordinate with compliance consultation and site director to develops health and safety procedures
- Monitors compliance of safety plan procedures and document inspection findings, ie classroom & bathroom log, arrival procedures, etc
- Maintain and follow a schedule of routine program inspections/walkthrough.
- Keeps abreast of applicable laws, regulations, advisory notices, OSHA rules, and CDC advice, particularly as they relate to Covid-19 Front Desk Monitor
- Provide screenings to employees, vendors, visitors, or anyone that requires entry into the facility following facilities protocol and using a non-contact infrared thermometer. (Do not write the number–HIPPA)
- Daily temperature checks, sanitizing, providing a mask to all staff as needed, and anyone not wearing a mask to enter the building.
- Ensure that If someone does not Pass the COVID Screening Tool checkmarks, they will not be allowed into the building.
- Provide care (where necessary) according to First Aid and CPR Training
- Provide COVID-19 FAQ’s and educational material with daily status updates (as available) from CDC, DOH, OCFS, and DOE
- General Maintenance of the facility which includes: Sanitization as per the protocol and as needed in their work area, charting Temp’s on COVID Screening Tool, etc Contact Tracer – COVID-19
- Assist with calling participants and staff member who have been absent for more than one day
- Call individuals recently diagnosed with COVID-19, to communicate the importance of isolation and assure needs are being addressed during the required isolation period.
- Collect and record all information regarding symptoms and dates of onset, as well as contacts (individuals with the individual may have been in direct face-to-face contact with at the site), in secure database.
- Call individuals recently exposed with COVID-19, to communicate the importance of guarantee, and assure needs are being addressed during the required isolation period.
- Along with Site Supervisor, alert local and federal agencies of any Covid-19 cases that occur at the site and share program corrective action plan
- Will be required to attend a training with compliance consultant and/or Covid-19 Tracer training
- Adhere to strict policies on maintaining confidentiality and privacy of call cases, contacts, and information.
- Maintain routine follow-up communication with individual throughout isolation
- Communicate regularly with compliance consultation (weekly)
Skills & Knowledge Required
- Minimum H.S. diploma/GED.
- College students preferred to major in Education or Child Psychology.
- 1-3 years of experience working with youth from 6 to 18 years old.
- Must possess strong classroom management skills.
- Must demonstrate the ability to develop lesson plans.
- Must be responsible and organized with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be a team player.
- Fluency in Spanish a plus.
