The Brookdale Hospital Medical Center - Brooklyn, NY

Overview:
Assists Director of Emergency Management in coordinating the development and implementation of surge capacity plans with local health departments, emergency management and local health providers. Coordinates training programs and emergency operation drills. Assists organization and outside agencies with emergency mitigation plans. Participates in the System Emergency Disaster and Response Team as appropriate.
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates the development and implementation of surge capacity plans with local health and emergency agencies.
  • Participates in completion of HRSA Deliverables as required.
  • Participates in Pediatric Disaster Coalition training, meetings, etc.
  • Participates in Emergency Preparedness Coordinator meetings, etc.
  • Develops and implements training classes and drills in preparation for bioterrorism emergencies.
  • Ensures planning, implementation, and evaluation of system-wide exercises.
  • Coordinates techniques and protocols for emergency response and mitigation.
  • Collaborates and communicates with outside agencies as needed.
  • Assists management in the development of policies and procedures and procurement and design of equipment and supplies necessary for training exercises.
  • Prepares reports and maintains all documentation as required by the organization, quality management, etc.
  • Monitors department activities and reviews policies and procedures and makes recommendations for improvements as necessary.
  • Operates under limited guidance and work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires in- depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Assists with Everbridge communication as required.

  • Participates in system-wide EM initiatives as appropriate.
  • Perform all other duties as required to ensure compliance.
Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • Extraordinary experience may be considered in lieu of the education requirement.


Experience:

  • Minimum one (1) year of related experience required.


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of personal and general public in a professional manner.
  • Ability to handle both common and crisis situations calm and efficiently
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
Licenses, Certifications:
  • ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800
Physical Requirements :
  • Stand or walk constantly (for up to an entire shift) on various surfaces (tile, concrete, carpet)
  • Climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift
  • Occasionally bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform various duties
  • Occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds
  • Run as needed
  • Constant use of both hands and arms in reaching/handling/grasping/fingering while using phone, notepad, writing reports, and other administrative tasks
  • Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read, interact with public and co-workers, view security monitors; includes hand/eye coordination
  • Work in various environments including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain or heat.
  • Constant mental alertness and attention to detail required while setting priorities and following up on assignments
