What's the role?
We are looking for a Senior Manager, HR Business Partner to provide strategic partnership to our new Chief Human Resource Officer, our Chief Legal Officer and their teams. They will work with their Executives and Senior Leaders to understand the business, build strong and trusted relationships across the organizations, and provide strategic support on all people related initiatives.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Director, HRBP. This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn office in an in-person or flex capacity. Learn more about our Flex and Office-based work modes as well as vaccination policy here.

What does the day-to-day look like
Provide direction and strategic support to Executive Team members and Senior Leaders on HR metrics, organizational design, change management, staffing needs and other people strategy related initiatives.
Adapt and implement People team strategies and programs to align with and enable business needs and priorities.
Lead all aspects of employee relations issues sensitively and effectively, by working with leaders, managers, and employment counsel as needed.
Identify, problem solve and raise (as needed) organizational or employee matters in a strategic, fair and thoughtful manner
Facilitate an understanding of recurring performance management and related processes (goal setting, quarterly check-ins, feedback), through discussions with senior leaders and managers, facilitation of training or information sessions, and related activities.
During key HR processes, work with the ET and senior leaders to strategize, communicate or reinforce timelines and processes, respond to leadership and manager questions, facilitate rating calibration sessions, and provide guidance on promotion, leveling, titling, and compensation decisions.
Work with People team shared services (HRIS, payroll, immigration) and centers of excellence (benefits, compensation, DEI) teams to consider implications of business line activities and HR needs and figure out the appropriate course of action on complex operational, processing, or subject matter-specific issues or situations
Manage one HRBP and provide direction on day-to-day operational activities and guidance.
Along with your HRBP, build strong positive relationships and credibility across all levels of Organization

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
9+ years of experience working in Human Resources, 6 years of experience as an HRBP.
Experience supporting HR or Legal teams is preferred but not required.
A solid knowledge of HR processes and policies and knowledge of employment law.
Good judgment, and the ability to navigate sensitive situations appropriately, with confidence under difficult circumstances.
Effectively strike the right balance of being an advisor to the business but also an advocate for employees.
Ability to negotiate complex and confidential situations with confidence and finesse.
A trust in and commitment to Etsy’s vision, mission and core values.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail and organization.
