Part-Time Custodian City Hall

Class Title: Custodian – Part Time – 28 Hours

Purchasing Department

Class Definition: Under general supervision of the Purchasing Manager, performs a variety of custodial functions in the operation of City Hall facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Including the following, other duties may be assigned. These duties are not intended to be all inclusive or exclusive, just illustrative of the kind of work to be performed.

• 
  Custodian’s Closet: Keep clean and in an orderly fashion. (Hang wet mops, empty mop buckets, and remove trash,)
• Responsible to ensure that all chemicals and equipment needed are available, labeled properly and in working order. If not, employee must notify supervisor when there are issues.
• Front entrance and all common areas to be maintained and cleaned. Clean doors, windows, dust, Mop/Sweep/Vacuum, monitor and remove trash and replace liners, discard all trash in appropriate location, keep glass clean.
• Restrooms: Dust vents, partitions, mirrors and fixtures. Clean and disinfect all walls, partitions, fixtures, toilets, sinks, mirrors, and doors. Sweep/mop floors daily to avoid soil build-up.
• Break Rooms/Meeting Rooms/Offices: Sweep/Mop/Vacuum, clean windows, remove trash and replace liners, dusting surfaces, and wipe/disinfect countertops, meeting room tables, and sink area.
• Clean windows, doors, and frames by hand or utilizing extension poles.
• On days of inclement weather, focus is to be given to the entrance flooring and matting.
• Trash: Disposal of all trash within the designated areas.
• Report minor or major damages to the appropriate person.
• Securing facilities/doors after operating hours
• Complete knowledge of ALL City of Easton policies and procedures and MSDS sheets.
• Inventory: Report chemical and cleaning supplies inventory at least one week prior to complete depletion of stock.
• Last 15 minutes of shift to be spent restocking and touching up restrooms.

Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, with exposure to hazardous chemicals and equipment, requires constant physical efforts and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to work evenings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays on any assigned shift. Working safely is a condition of employment. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the job.

This position is Part-Time and is paid hourly. Typical hours are Monday to Friday, 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Minimum Qualifications Required for Appointment:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent and a minimum of three years of custodial maintenance or equivalent experience. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Attention to detail and conscientiousness with work being done along with safety precautions. Knowledge of occupational hazards, and safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components. Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.

The successful applicant will be subject to an extensive background check and drug screening before an offer of employment is given. All employees must reside in Pennsylvania.
