Role Summary
The Customer and Commercial Creation Centre team creates comprehensive technology solutions for Healthcare Providers (HCPs). These products include all digital (web, mobile, omni-channel, & devices) products, platforms, services and experiences.
The Engineering/Development Lead is the technical lead of a scrum development or project team which uses a variety of appropriate software delivery methodologies (agile, waterfall, hybrid, etc.).
They are embedded in a team which is focused on HCPs and they will work closely with a wide range of other colleagues (developers/delivery/product owners/client partners and commercial) to deliver world class solutions which are aligned to Pfizer’s bold move goals. They will lead a distributed team of developers and testers. They are responsible for the technical approach, engineering, strategy & delivery of these solutions.
How You Will Achieve It
The primary responsibilities of this position will be providing technical expertise and leadership in our team to deliver against our highest priority objectives.
  • They have a proven history of developing high quality software.
  • They have a detailed understanding of the Pfizer Digital technical and commercial landscapes.
  • Preferably, they are experienced in delivery of HCP Digital solutions within Pfizer.
  • They are comfortable with having autonomy and need to be able to make decisions without 100% of the information needed. (Working under pressure)
  • They must be prepared to lead a team of either colleagues and/or contracted staff.
  • They understand and have experience of Pfizer Digital’s software delivery life cycle, release management and software quality assurance principles.
  • They must be able to understand business needs and be able to translate them into useable, elegant, and high-quality technical solutions.
  • They must be good at working within teams and managing stakeholders.
  • They must be able to set technical objectives and create plans in the event that they are responsible for a team’s output.
  • They must be an excellent communicator and understand what effective communication means in practical terms.
  • They should be open to new ideas and be able to bring innovative ideas to their teams.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years software development experience in roles such as a software architect, developer, systems engineer, computer engineer, engineering lead, technical team lead. Ideally they would have experience managing teams (including financial) of contract or colleague resources.
  • Demonstrable experience operating in a DevOps environment and able to bring real experience of what works (and what doesn’t work) to our teams.
  • Demonstrable experience of modern software engineering, including coding standards, code reviews, test practices, and releasing.
  • Demonstrable experience of RESTful APIs, integration and microservice patterns.
  • Demonstrable experience of data modeling, common application architectures, cloud development, CI/CD practices, and able to lead software engineers in these areas.
  • Demonstrable understanding of source control using git.
  • Demonstrable understanding of object-oriented programming.
  • Experience with Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence) and GitHub is an asset.
  • Preferred qualification: Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent practical work experience in Information Management, Computer Science, Engineering, Technology Management, or relevant disciplines.
  • The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with multiple of the following technologies.

  • Can navigate ambiguity: Ability to lead in a complex, matrix environment (multiple reporting lines and collaborations), with geographically distributed resources.
  • Passionate about quality: Detail oriented, persistent, strong desire to produce quality applications focused on user experience.
  • Analytical: Excellent skills in analysis, critical thinking and planning, oral and written communication, consensus building, facilitation, negotiation, and the ability to readily learn a new business area.
  • Curious and courageous: Will explore diverse solutions and not be afraid to pursue breakthrough thinking.

Travel will be required as part of this role as it is within a virtual team. Expectations around travel will vary but you will need to be capable of travel within the region and to other regions.
