Description: Brand/Division Overview:
The Applied Machine Learning Group within Paramount Global Streaming’s Advanced Technologies division focuses on deploying machine learning techniques to improve products.

Role Details:
As a Cloud Backend Engineer - Content Platform on the Applied Machine Learning Group, you’ll play a key role in the development of sophisticated products that collect, transform and enrich data in a fast, scalable and reliable way both for ourselves and our customers. Location is open for remote work.

Your Day-to-Day:
Implement designs and collaborate with backend and frontend engineers to produce top-tier technical results
Work with the product manager and lead engineers to design and develop a variety of features, reusable components and products ensuring data availability for recommendations, search, and video services
Participate in design and code reviews
Triage and fix reported bugs as well as issues related to performance
Communicate estimates, schedules, issues and dependencies to technical or project lead
Communicate often with other remote team members on our distributed team. Raise issues and blockers and follow through as needed
Bring new ideas about technology to engineering team and product manager
Become a subject matter expert on core backend system
Participate in scheduled production releases

Key Projects:
Design, implement and support ingestion pipelines providing source data critical to our ML models
Originate new feature solutions for our transactional web application backend including data model and API endpoints
Orchestrate downstream data source availability for use by our ML models and reporting

Qualifications:
BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
Solid foundation and programming experience in Python, Django and SQL
Understanding of database concepts and data modeling
Experience working on transactional web applications, identifying workflow use cases, and designing the appropriate solutions
Production quality API development experience
Experience building ingestion pipelines from external data sources
Excellent problem solving, collaboration and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
Practiced in writing unit tests
Nice to have –
Experience deploying to Cloud production environments
Experience with ElasticSearch
Experience with Kubernetes
Familiarity with Argo Workflows
Experience with version control systems (Git and Bitbucket)
Experience using Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Cloud Storage and APIs)
