Who You Are

As a Staff Software Engineer at Justworks, you will leverage your demonstrated ability to own and lead the implementation of features in large-scale, distributed applications to support the long term growth of Justworks. You understand the concept of "separation of concerns" and have leveraged design patterns to solve technical challenges. You are eager to learn and passionate about improvement. You spend significant amounts of time directly assisting and leveling up other engineers. You look for signals in the noise and can mitigate potential issues before they become problems.

As a Staff Software Engineer for the Mobile team, you will be leveraging your experience working with customer-facing mobile applications. You will be responsible for designing and building complex features, and will demonstrate an understanding and use of automated testing as a productivity multiplier. You will be working primarily in React Native.

What You Will Work On

  • Work collaboratively with other engineers, product managers, designers, and stakeholders.
  • Scope and lead large technical projects, coordinating efforts with other engineers on the team
  • Mentor engineers to help them grow their technical skills by fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
  • Ensure continuous compatibility between Android and iOS platforms
  • Help define and communicate technical standards and best practices for mobile development
  • Provide guidance and support growth in other engineers on the team and across other teams

  • Minimum of 8 years of Frontend or Mobile development experience
  • Deep experience with React Native
  • Demonstrable experience leading engineers without formal direct reporting relationships
  • Strong object-oriented design and coding skills
  • Experience working with complicated systems at scale
  • Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms
  • Experience building an iOS or Android app is a plus
  • Experience with GraphQL is a plus
