Job title: Health/PE teacher and track coach

Description: St. Benedict's Prep seeks energetic, dedicated, full-time health/PE teacher and boys' varsity track coach to begin in late July.

Ideal candidates are prepared to teach a hybrid course comprised of health education 2-3 days a week and physical training 2-3 days a week. A successful candidate is:

- knowledgeable of and adept at teaching a comprehensive health curriculum to freshman students including topics such as body systems, reproduction, fitness and nutrition, mental and emotional health, addictive substance awareness, and personal care;

- able to design a fitness program that includes instruction in proper form and technique and that can be modified to challenge more prepared students and assist beginning fitness students in building their skills and capacity; and

- an excellent classroom manager, establishing routines that create a structured and productive learning environment.

The Boys Varsity Track Coach must realize and appreciate the need for the track & field program to work with other sports as a complement to the entire athletic department.

Primary Purpose: Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and the ability to excel in track & field. Contribute to the educational program as a whole and to the growth of students involved in athletics so that they are successfully competitive.

Experience: A minimum of three years of experience as a boys’ varsity track & field coach is preferred.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student-athletes in track & field.

Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual

growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.

Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and

objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student-athletes.

Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students’ athletic abilities initially

and on a regular basis.

Take all necessary precautions to protect student-athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extra-curricular participation.

Work with the Athletic Director to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements.

Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of coaching program, which includes but is not

limited to: making changes based on findings and the ongoing needs of the program.

St. Benedict’s Prep is a 154-year-old Catholic school with a rigorous academic program. The 950 students (co-ed K-8, all-girls 9-12, and all-boys 9-12) and 75 faculty members work together to build a community whose members are responsible to one another for developing character and talent.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
