The Bureau of Public Health Clinics has the mission of improving the sexual health of all New Yorkers. To achieve this, the Bureau provides direct clinic services to people seeking sexual health care, and services to sex partners; monitors disease trends; provides education and training to providers and community groups, conducts research and develop policies to improve sexual health and wellness. The Bureau of Public Health Clinics-Sexually Transmitted Infections operates 8 Sexual Health clinics throughout New York City (NYC).

We are hiring for a City Research Scientist II, to serve as Project Coordinator. The selected applicant will report directly to the Director of Program Development, Implementation and Evaluation and will coordinate the implementation and management of the contracted and regulatory clinical services.



DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • Conduct basic data monitoring and analysis to support evaluation activities.

  • Coordinate the implementation and management of the contracted and regulatory clinical services.

  • Work with Director to secure additional funding for program.

  • Organize grant-related team meetings, track progress and compile reports.

  • Increase capacity for testing services in sexual health clinics and during emergency responses.

  • Coordinate planning and operations of activities associated with DISex grant including but not limited to expansion of STI Quickie services and COVID-19 Quickie services.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders included but not limited to clinic patients, community providers, and clinic staff, Pubic Health Labs (PHL).

  • Support program staff in execution of project activities.

  • Conduct other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qual Requirements

1. For Assignment Level I (only physical, biological and environmental sciences and public health) A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological or environmental science or in public health.
To be appointed to Assignment Level II and above, candidates must have:
1. A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or
2. A master's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least a master's degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in "2" above. Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in "1" and "2" above.

NOTE:
Probationary Period
Appointments to this position are subject to a minimum probationary period of one year.

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of infectious disease trends, epidemiology, testing and other programming.
Experience working in sexual and reproductive health, contact tracing and surveillance.
Experience preparing funding proposals and grant management
Organizational and project management skills, ability to effectively collaborate with staff on all levels.
Experience writing and amending protocols.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Experience using data management and data analysis software to analyze health data, including but not limited to MS Access, SAS, SPSS, SQL
Use of MS Office products, including PowerPoint and Excel.
