The Role at a Glance

We have a great opportunity for you to join our team as an AWS and API developer and software engineer with our growing Annuities IT organization at Lincoln Financial Group. We are building the next generation of application and data solutions to help our customers achieve their financial goals and objectives. You will be joining a team of experienced developers and assist us in continuing to execute our strategies. You will also act as a resource and develop more complex innovative business solutions by creating new applications, modifying existing applications and providing post-production support.

What you'll be doing:

Analyzes increasingly complex systems specifications of existing programs to determine requirements.
Analyzes, designs, codes, debugs, integrates and tests increasingly complex software application solutions for systems.
Champions and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Communicates effectively with internal stakeholders and management.
Consults and/or participates in the requirements, design and coding walkthroughs to ensure the development of quality solutions.
Defines detailed development tasks, task dependencies and estimates to complete work.
Determines how existing applications, systems, databases, interfaces and/or hardware can interact to meet new and emerging enterprise initiatives.
Documents increasingly complex programs and procedures.
Identifies and recommends process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Identifies potential application solutions by understanding increasingly complex business/technical problems and opportunities.
Investigates and resolves increasingly complex problems including providing support for production systems in a timely manner.
Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.
Partners with internal stakeholders to ensure that systems are designed, developed and implemented from a business point of view.
Prepares and/or generates test data.
Proactively identifies problems and presents/develops solutions
Serves as a resource to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on more complex assignments/projects for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.

What' we're looking for

Must-haves:

3-5+ years experience in application development of REST APIs, Microservices and other integration solutions (SOAP, MQ, etc.)
Experience in developing solutions using Java, Node.js, Python, Spring, Hibernate, Angular JS
Experience in developing solutions leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS) like EC2, S3, Lambda, Step Functions
Experience with developing solutions utilizing RDBMS, SQL and NoSQL database platforms
Experience with writing and executing unit and integration testing and testing tools like Postman, Junit, JMeter and similar tools
Experience using Git, Gitlab and related tools
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (Required)

Nice-to-haves:

Experience with working with message-oriented middleware and event driving architectures
Experience with DevOps engineering practices – Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Cloud Formation and yaml scripting and execution
Experience developing solutions using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform and Docker
Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Delivery and DevOps
