Our roles primarily reside inside or around one of our Tech Hubs (Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs, Denver, Austin, Silicon Valley, Washington DC/N. Virginia). Some roles can work virtual full-time if they are not near a Tech Hub, but that is dependent upon the needs of the position and amount of collaboration required.

Job Summary

Customer Experience Technologies (CXT) is passionate about the technology, systems and tools that support the customer lifecycle (sales, activation, billing, support, etc.), as well as employee-facing teams such as human resources, finance, and workplace information technology. These tools and systems are foundational to our ability to meet and exceed customer expectations and support an excellent employee experience. The Technology, Product, Experience (TPX) organization works at the intersection of media and technology and our innovative teams are continually developing and delivering products and next-generation technologies that transform the customer experience and their Digital Experience (.dx). The DevOps Engineer will provide technical expertise to design, develop, and maintain automation platforms responsible for delivering cloud infrastructure that is scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant on Amazon cloud.

Job Description

The DevOps Engineer is an important role that focuses on optimizing existing systems, eliminating/mitigating production outages, monitoring, data quality and automation of applications. One will be contributing to project teams, solving operational issues, providing technical solutions to operational problems, new product implementation and the overall upkeep and maintenance of designated areas of engineering. They will act in compliance with industry and Company technical requirements, standards, policies, and procedures; collaborate with vendors, engineering and peer operations organizations.

This person should have strong experience working in a DevSecOps team that focuses on improving and enhancing reliability and sustainability of production applications and systems and someone that has in-depth experience and knowledge in a broad range of AWS services and Python scripting.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

  • Authority in Automation & scripting using Python, Ansible and Terraform.

  • Proficient in Spark, Kubernetes and Docker.

  • Skilled using Git and implemented CI/CD pipelines.

  • Network troubleshooting and configuration.

  • Cloud computing (Kubernetes, AWS)

  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, creativity and resourcefulness.

  • Position requires participation of a rotating “on call” schedule to provide support for our business and customers.

  • Researches, writes and edits documentation and technical requirements, including software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals and formal recommendations and reports.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Databricks' experience is a plus.

  • AWS certifications are a plus.

  • Experience with Networking (Route53 and Load-Balancers)

  • Hands-on experience and practical knowledge of Unix/ Linux environments and Docker.

  • Software development experience using Java, Angular or JavaScript.

  • Deployment tool software experience using Puppet, Docker, Ansible, or Kubernetes.

  • Good understanding of software standard methodologies such as Agile-based development, coding guidelines, code reviews etc.

  • Proficient in specifying system level requirements and creating design and usage documentation.

Core Responsibilities

  • Focused on improving and enhancing reliability and sustainability of production applications and systems.

  • Handles installation, configuration, implementation and validation of various software upgrades and hardware replacement.

  • Drives issues through closure engaging all appropriate resources. Leads technical bridges and provides troubleshooting direction. Provides guidance and recommended solutions to complex technical issues.

  • Develop utility and monitoring scripts and applications primarily using Python, Ansible, Terraform and AWS services.

  • Collaborate with third party vendors to coordinate support processes and customer concerns.

  • Applying knowledge of Linux, HTTP protocol, RESTful web services, and client/server interactions to solve issues and drive resolutions.

  • Lead the handling of system outages and repairing system operational issues.

  • Provides guidance to Engineering and vendors on defects and required improvements.

  • Participates in training representatives and operations staff on internally developed software applications.

  • Provides technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance with regards to practices, procedures, and techniques. Serves as a guide and mentor for junior-level Software Development Engineers.

  • Expected to function as a technical leader and an authority for the components that you enhance and maintain. Presents and defends architectural, design and technical choices to internal audiences.

  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance.

  • Usually determines own work priorities. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
